Summer Camp Registration
Flint River Bowhunters Club has decided to put together a fun Introduction to 3d archery camp for kids ages 10 and up this summer 2019!
We are very excited about this and hope we will have enough kids interested that we could plan an archery camp every summer.
Genesis compound bows and arrows will be provided! No need to have your own. We only have access to a certain number of bows and limited outdoor practice space! Registration for this camp is very LIMITED!!
The program will use NASP 11 steps to archery success to teach participants. These steps can be applied to teach children proper archery form using any type of bow with or without a release aid.
Children can bring their own bow if they would like. All that we ask is that the bow has been properly set up and adjusted for your child by a professional.
The camp is designed for beginning to intermediate archers. Instructors will be able to work with children of different skill levels.
Camp will take place out at Big Hollow Recreation Area on the 300 Meter range under the awning for the first 3-4 practices. The last practice (july 6th), will be on the frbc 3d archery course next to the 300 m. range. (the 4th practice (june 30th), may be on the 3d course as well/we will let parents know)
We have scheduled 2 hour long practices in order to give kids all the time they want to have fun shooting. We plan to play archery games and give away small prizes daily. Children are not required to stay the entire two hours. If you would like to take your child home earlier or if your child only wishes to shoot for an hour or an hour and a half that is perfectly fine. We only wanted to give kids as much time as they wanted with the bows because we know how much fun shooting can be! :)
The very last practice (july 6th), we have planned to take the kids onto our 3d range to shoot our July 3d archery shoot. The course will be all set up for them. We plan to shoot anywhere from 15-30 targets depending on how much time we have and whether the kids are feeling up to shooting the entire course or just half of it. This will probably take about 2- 2.5 hours to complete. We may take them out on the course the 4th day of practice as well to shoot some of our older targets. That will depend on how well the group has been doing on the 300 meter range. We will notify parents if we do plan on taking them onto the course on June 30th as well.
Parents are welcome to stay or go during practices. Maybe your child will give you a chance to shoot the bow they have been assigned! :) If we have a little time we wouldn't mind teaching a few parents to shoot too. If you decide to stay bring a lawn chair to sit in.
Cost of the camp will be $35. Checks preferred and made out to: Flint River Bowhunters Club. payments should be brought on 1st day of camp.
